South Bend - Patrick Francis Boughal, 94, of St. Paul's Retirement Community, died on Thursday, April 12, 2001.

He was born on Sept. 11, 1906, in New York City, to Edward Boughal and Ellen (Kearney) Boughal, both of whom emigrated from Ireland. He received both his bachelor's and master's degrees from New York University. For 40 years, the public school system of the City of New York employed him as a teacher and an administrator. He was a past president of the International Graphic Arts Education Association and the Printing Teachers Guild of the City of New York. He was the author of a book, Opportunities in the Printing Trades, and co-author of several articles on printing and graphic arts education.

 

On Nov. 24, 1932, he married Rosemary C. Superty in Saint Ephrem Church, Brooklyn, N.Y. She preceded him in death on April 18, 1992. His parents, two brothers, Edward and David Boughal, and a sister, Elizabeth Boughal, also preceded him in death. He is survived by a daughter, Rosemary C. Benchik of South Bend; and a son, Richard P. Boughal, M.D., of Northport, N.Y.; four grandchildren, Ted Benchik and Marilyn Klimek, both of South Bend, Jacquelyn Benchik-Osborne of Chicago and Kevin Boughal of Roanoke, Va. He had nine great-grandchildren.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 18, in St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Northport, N.Y., and burial will take place at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, Coram, N.Y. A memorial Mass will be celebrated in the memorial chapel of St. Paul's Retirement Community at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2001. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Cross Associates, P.O.
