Doris C. Bowers

May 28, 1929 - June 4, 2001

Doris Catherine Bowers, 72, passed away after an illness on Monday morning, June 4, in her residence.

Doris was married to Walter O. Bowers on June 7, 1947, in South Bend, Ind. He survives. Together Doris and Walter made their home in South Bend. Doris was a homemaker most of her life, and a loving mother to her children.

Mrs. Bowers is also survived by six daughters, Becky Reynolds of Edwardsburg, Mich., Linda Cole of South Bend, Lori Wallace of South Bend, Tammi Bowers of Palmer, Alaska, Donna Shire of Kenosha, Wis., and Darla Thomas of South Bend; a son, Gary Bowers of Warsaw, Ind.; and by 18 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Doris enjoyed many different activities in life. She loved to shop and collected teddy bears. She loved hummingbirds and also raising African violets. Most important to her was being a foster parent.

Funeral services for Doris C. Bowers will be held at 10 a.m. today, June 6, in the Guisinger Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend. Officiating will be the Rev. Larry Baker. Burial will be at Southlawn Cemetery.

Visitation for Doris was from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, in the funeral home, and will be held for one hour before services today.
