Edith E. (Watts) Bowers, 89, of Mulberry Road, South Bend, died at 5:25 p.m. Monday, in the Bremen Health Care Center, Bremen, Ind. Edith was born in St. Austell, England on October 11, 1907 to John and Eva (Rouse) Williams. She came to the United States in 1914.

 

On Jan. 21, 1928 in South Bend she married Ernest T. Watts, who preceded her in death on Oct. 24, 1961. On March 5, 1977, Edith married Charles F. Bowers, who also preceded her in death on Aug. 13, 1983. Edith is survived by a daughter and her husband, Joan and Delford A. Eaton of Bristol, Ind.. She is also survived by three sons, Darrell E. Watts and his wife Joyce, John R. Watts and his wife Carol, and Michael W. Watts. All three sons live in South Bend. There are also 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren who survive Edith.

 

She is also survived by her sisters, Beverly Lenczowski and her husband Steve of South Bend, Audrey J. Mead and her husband William of Clayton, Mo.; and by a brother John W. Williams and his wife Alice of Chula Vista, Calif. Edith was a member of the Community Baptist Church of South Bend.

 

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in the Guisinger Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3718 S. Michigan Street. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday with Rev. Vaughn Sprunger, retired pastor of Community Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Southlawn Cemetery.
