Thomas H. Bowland.

 

     Thomas H. Bowland, chief engineer of St. Mary's College for 24 years, died at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in St. Joseph Hospital.  He had been ill since January.  He was born in Kokomo on Dec. 23, 1900, and had lived in South Bend 33 years coming here from Kokomo.  Bowland married Charlotte McCool, who survives.  Other survivors are two sons, Thomas F., of Paw Paw, Mich., and John A., of Miami, Fla.; three grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Jessa Bowland, of Kokomo, and one sister, Mrs. S. G. Chambers, of Elgin, Ill.  He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Engineer's Club, and the Four Lakes Country Club, Edwardsburg, Mich.  Friends may call today from 4 to 9 p.m. in the Hickey Funeral Home.  The body will be taken to Kokomo where services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Fenn Funeral Home.  Burial will be in Crown Point Cemetery, Kokomo.
