Mrs. Melvina W. Bowman

Mrs. Melvina W. Bowman, aged 78, died at 9 o’clock Sunday night at her home, 502,
South St. Joseph street, after an illness of three months from paralysis.  She is survived by two children, Mrs. Henry L. Gaskill and Mrs. Florence F. Shank, both of South Bend, and by one brother, Jerome Webster, of Lydick, Ind.

Mrs. Bowman was born May 14, 1837, in Portage township and was a life long resident of St. Joseph county.  She was married in 1857 to the late Samuel Bowman, who was a commissioner of this county, president of the county agricultural association, and of the Farmer’s Mutual Fire Insurance company and a member of the Indiana state live stock commission.

The funeral services will be held from the residence at 2:30 o’clock, the Rev. J.M. Alexander of the First Christian church, officiating.  The body will lay in state from 10 to 12 o’clock Tuesday forenoon.  Burial will be in Bowman cemetery.
