Obituary - South Bend Tribune - Sept. 24, 1892 - Mrs Clarrissa E. Bowsher, wife of N. P. Bowsher, of 805 West Washington street, died September 19, at 2 am.  Mrs Bowsher was the seventh child of John of Mahala Hostetter, of Noble county Ind. who came to Indiana at a time when there was scarcely anything but Indian trails for "highways".  She was born March 20, 1841.  Besides a husband, to whom she was married 26 years ago, she leaves two sons, Delevan D. and Jay, to mourn her loss.  She also leaves two sisters J.L. Manning, of 557 Burroughs street, this city, and Mrs J. L. Smalley, of Ligonier.  Besides these there are five brothers - Simon, residing at Whitesville, Henry at Knox, Adolphus at LaGrange, all in this state; Harvey at Carl Junction, Mo, and Robinson in Colorado.  Mr and Mrs Bowsher have resided in South Bend for over 21 years.  The funeral takes place Wednesday from the house at 3 o'clock pm.  The services will be conducted by Rev J.H. Hollingsworth of the first M.E. church assisted by Presiding Elder Odgen and Rev. W.E. McLennan, of Milburn chapel.
Mrs Bowsher was a truly christian woman.  Her whole life was devoted to good works, in which she had the most harty accord of her loving husband and sons.  No invalid had more delicate attentions than was given her by the sorrowing members of her family.  They had known for a long time that her recovery was next to impossible, as she did herself; but she accepted the inevitable with the cheerful resignation which will ever be a solace to those she left behind.
