Brother Ignatius Boyd CSC

Brother Ignatius Boyd CSC, died Sunday morning in St. Anthony Hospital, Terre Haute. He was born Nov. 28, 1901 in Washington, D.C. He received the habit of the Congregation of Holy Cross Oct. 7, 1917 and was a novitiate at Notre Dame. He took his final vows at Notre Dame July 13, 1924. For 21 years Brother Boyd taught at Holy Cross High School, New Orleans, then was assigned to teach at the Gibault School for Boys, Terre Haute. After one year there he was appointed director of the school for six years. He was later assigned to St. Charles Boys Home, Milwaukee, where he served as instructor and supervisor from 1952-1956. He was reassigned to Gibault in 1956 and has been there since.

 

Brother Boyd is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Gustave Stewart on Linwood, N.J. and Mrs. George McCullen of Pleasantville, N.J.

 

The Office of the Dead will be recited at 5 p.m. today in Sacred Heart Church on the Notre Dame campus. Services will be at 8 a.m. Tuesday in Sacred Heart Church and burial will be in Community Cemetery at Notre Dame.Friends may call after 5 p.m. today in Columba Hall at Notre Dame. The Hickey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
