Victor R. Boyer

Victor R. Boyer passed away on Friday, Oct. 20, at the age of 89. He was born on June 16, 1911, in Mishawaka, Ind., to the late Ernest and Minnie (Shafer) Boyer, the third of six children, all of whom preceded him in death.

 

On Feb. 15, 1930, he married Dessie F. Fenimore in South Bend, Ind. She preceded him in death in April 1983. He was father to three sons, Victor Jr. (who preceded him in death), Byron of Mishawaka, Ind., and James of Knoxville, Tenn. Survivors include seven grandchildren, Vicky (Fleming) Boyer and John Boyer of Battle Creek, Mich., James B. Boyer of Adrian, Mich., Ciritta Park of Columbus, Ohio, Tamara Lewis of Mishawaka, Chris Boyer of Martinez, Calif., and Jeffery Boyer of Knoxville. Also surviving are great-grandchildren, Amanda Fleming and Kevin Park, and one great-great-grandchild, Victoria Inman.

 

Victor was retired from the UniRoyal Corporation where he worked in the credit department for 21 years. Prior to this he was a salesman for The Prudential Insurance Company and the Reynolds Tobacco Company. He served as ticket manager and bookstore manager of Mishawaka High School. He was involved with the Democratic party of St. Joseph County and Mishawaka for many years, serving one term as a county councilman. He was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Mishawaka.

 

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 26, in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, where friends may visit with the Boyer family from 11 a.m. until the service. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Ind. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church or to the favorite charity of the donor.
