Brother Elmo Bramnsby CSC, 81, of
Dujarie
House, died early today in his residence. He was born Jan. 22,
1912, in Lancaster, Pa. e was received into the Congregation of
Holy Cross on Feb. 1, 1933 and made his final profession on Aug.
16, 1937. From 1974 to 1980 he was first assistant general of the
Congregation. From 1957 to 1963 he was assistant provincial of
the Eastern Province of Brothers, and was president of St. Edward’s
University, Austin, Texas from 1952 to 1957. He held many
teaching and administrative positions, including superior of
student brothers, both at Notre Dame and St. Edward’s. He
was a graduate of Notre Dame and Fordham University.
Services will be at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Holy Cross Brothers Center. Burial will be in Valatire, N.Y. Friends may call in the Brothers Center after 1 p.m. Sunday.
