SOUTH BEND - John R. Brennan, 95, of St. Paul's Retirement Community, died at 3:05 p.m. Thursday in the nursing home. Mr. Brennan was employed by Traveler's Insurance Co. as an agent for more than 50 years and was owner/operator of the former Brennan Insurance Agency. He was born Sept. 19, 1900, in Logansport, Ind., and lived in South Bend since 1927. On Oct. 23, 1928, in Logansport, he married Josephine Fries. She died in 1985. He is survived by two daughters, Mary A. Schilling of South Bend and Kathleen Ann Mikula of Oakley, Calif.; a son, Daniel J. of Kerrville, Texas; 18 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. He was a member of Elks Lodge 235, Knights of Columbus Santa Maria Council, St. Vincent DePaul Society, and charter member and one of the founders of Holy Cross Catholic Church.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the church. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday in Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society.

SOUTH BEND - Services for John R. Brennan, 95, of St. Paul's Retirement Community, who died at 3:05 p.m. Thursday in his residence, will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home, where the rosary, conducted by the parish and Knights of Columbus Santa Maria Council 553 and a wake service will be at 6:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society.
Mr. Brennan was the owner of Brennan Insurance Agency and was employed for Traveler's Insurance Co. for more than 50 years. He was born Sept. 6, 1900, in Logansport. On Oct. 23, 1928, in Logansport, he married Josephine Fries. She died in 1985. He was a founding member of Holy Cross Church in 1929, and the oldest living member of Knights of Columbus Santa Maria Council 553.
