Sister M. Inez (Nanda Maria Agnes Bress) CSC, 93, died on Monday, March 6, in Saint Mary's Convent, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame, Ind. Sister M. Inez (Nanda Maria Agnes Bress) was born on Aug. 4, 1906, to the late William and Anne Kendall Bress in Austin, Texas.

 

She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross at Saint Mary's, Notre Dame, on June 30, 1927, from Austin, and made her final profession in the Congregation on Aug. 15, 1933.

Sister M. Inez began her teaching career in 1927 at Saint Paul's School, Valparaiso Ind. She taught there from 1930-1933. Sister spent a year in Washington, D.C., as a student and office worker in the Bengalese Convent. She was assigned to teach in the many Holy Cross elementary schools in Austin, Marshall and McAllen, Texas, 1934-1969. There were a few years spent teaching in Virginia, New York and Pennsylvania. In the later years Sister Inez did some social work and taught religious education in Austin, Burnet, Richardson and Corpus Christi, Texas, and Niles, Mich., 1970-1985. In 1985 Sister Inez retired to Our Lady of Holy Cross and then to Saint Mary's Convent where she resided and was active in the Apostolate of Prayer until her death.

 

Wake services will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 8, in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto, Saint Mary's. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 9, in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto, Saint Mary's, followed by interment at Queen of Peace Cemetery, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of the Holy Cross Ministry with the Poor Fund, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame, IN 46556. The Kaniewski Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
