William W. Bridge

June 16, 1930 - April 2, 2000

William W. Bridge, 69, of Granger, Ind., passed away at 8:45 a.m. on Sunday, April 2, in Memorial Hospital. Bill was in the partnership of Bridge, Holland and Associates, and retired in 1993 after 43 years in the insurance business. He was born on June 16, 1930, in Chicago, Ill., to William and Luella (Brandenberg) Bridge, who preceded Bill in death. Bill had lived in the South Bend area since 1953 after he was transferred in the insurance business from Chicago, Ill.

 

On Oct. 27, 1951, in Chicago, he married Barbara J. Anderson, who survives. He is also survived by a daughter, Laurie (Kevin) Balsley of Richardson, Texas; two sons, William (Teresa) Bridge of Plainfield, Ill., and Michael of Granger; a brother, Tom (Judy) Bridge of Geneva, Ill.; six grandchildren, Dan, Doug and Stephen Balsley of Richardson, and Billy Bridge, Kyle and Tiffany Purcell of Plainfield.

 

Bill was a member of Zion United Church of Christ, the National Order of the Blue Goose, Deer Creek Gun Club, attended the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, and was an avid fisherman and hunter. Bill served in the National Guard.

 

Services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 5, in Zion United Church of Christ, 715 E. Wayne Street, South Bend, with Rev. Robert Manning, pastor, officiating. Cremation will take place.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today, April 4, in the HICKEY Funeral Home, 17131 Cleveland Road. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
