Americo J. Brioli

Mishawaka – Americo J. “Duke” Brioli, 72, of Spring Street, died Saturday morning in Tucson, Ariz.

 

Mr. Brioli retired as the Mishawaka Street Commissioner in 1988. He also had retired from the Mishawaka Fire Department in 1967 and was formerly employed as the Mishawaka Building Inspector and at the Wheelabrator-Frye Corporation..

 

He received the Mishawaka Man of the Year Award in 1991 and the Indiana Street Commissioner of the Year Award in 1974.

 

He was born Sept. 4, 1921 in Mishawaka and was a lifelong area resident. On Nov. 29, 1945, in Amarillo, Texas, he married June McCauley. She survives with a daughter, Marcia Heintzberger of Mishawaka; two sons, Neal of New Carlisle and Mario of Mishawaka, and seven grandchildren.

 

Mr. Brioli was a member of St. Bavo Church, DeAmicius Club, B-K Club, Michiana Steel Headers. Mishawaka Goodfellows, St. Vincent DePaul Society, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 360, American Legion Post 161, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 6, American Ex-Prisoners of War and Mishawaka Firemen Retirees.

 

He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.

 

Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Hahn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mishawaka – Services for Americo J. “Duke” Brioli, 72, of Spring Street, who died Saturday morning in Tucson, Ariz. of natural causes, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in St. Bavo’s Catholic Church. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

 

Friends may  call from noon to 98 p.m. Tuesday and from 11 a.m. until services Wednesday in the Hahn Funeral Home, where a wake prayer service will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
