Lorraine "Charlie" Britton, 72, of Mishawaka, Ind., passed away Sunday, Sept. 16, in her son's home in Kalamazoo, Mich. "Charlie" was born on Jan. 30, 1929, in Mishawaka, as the daughter of the late Maurice D. and Julienne (Dierickx) Pringels. On Nov. 5, 1949, in Mishawaka, as Lorraine Pringles, she married Glenn Britton, who preceded her in death on Dec. 11, 1996. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Roger Pringels. "Charlie" is survived by her son, James M. (Linda) Britton of Kalamazoo; two grandchildren, James M. (Sheila) Britton II of Mishawaka and Julie Ann Britton of Kalamazoo; two great-grandchildren, James M. Britton III and Justin Matthew Britton.

 

"Charlie" was a registrator for St. Joseph County Health Department for 28 years before retiring in 1988. She was a member of the Association of Retired Public Employees of Indiana, St. Bavo's Catholic Church, AARP, was a past president of the American Legion #161 Women's Auxiliary, VFW Post #360 Women's Auxiliary, past chapeaux of EL-CO Salon #156 (Forty and Eight Club), member EL-CO Salon #871 where she held various offices including chapeaux and past president of American Legion 3rd District.

 

Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 19, in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W 8th Street, Mishawaka. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 20, in the Hahn Funeral Home. Rev. Barry England will officiate. Burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery.
