SOUTH BEND - Marina C. Brockus, 87,
of Eastbrook Drive, died at 12:48 p.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph
Health Care Center-West. Mrs. Brockus was a drill press operator
at the former Ball Band Co. She was born Feb. 12, 1907, in Ghent,
Belgium, and had lived in South Bend since 1924, coming from
Belgium.
On May 22, 1948, in South Bend, as Marina Van
Hyfte, she married Lester Brockus. He died June 26, 1994.
Surviving are a son, Al Poelvoorde of Mishawaka; three
grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Gushwa
of Florida. She was a former member of the Four Seasons Garden
Club.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today in
Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St. Burial will be in
Highland Cemetery. Friends may call two hours prior to services
in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Pet
Refuge or the St. Joseph County Humane Society.
