Cecelia Josephine Brothers

Cecelia Josephine Brothers, 93, of 2407 Bond Street, Niles, Mich., died at 3:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 13, at her home following a brief illness.

 

Mrs. Brothers was born Oct. 31, 1904 in South Bend, Ind., to Frank and Josephine (Migtski) Pawlak, and had lived in the Bertrand Community most of her life. She was retired in 1967 following 25 years of service at the former Ball Band and Uniroyal Company. Mrs. Brothers was a member of Saint Mary Catholic Church in Niles. She enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable gardens and also enjoyed traveling, having visited the Holy Land, Alaska, and Hawaii.

 

On Jan. 4, 1920 in Saint Mary Catholic Church, she was married to Edward F. Brothers who preceded her in death. She was also preceded by sons, Edward P. Brothers and Walter Brothers; and by two sisters and four brothers. Mrs. Brothers is survived by four daughters, Agnes Lindgren, Helen Minarik, Lucia Hendershott, and Mary Ann Brothers all of Niles; 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

 

Mass of Christian Burial for Cecelia Brothers will be celebrated at 11 a.m. today at Saint Mary Catholic Church in Niles with the Reverend William T. Melody of Notre Dame, Ind.., officiating. Interment will be at Silverbrook Cemetery, Niles, Mich. The family received friends at Halbritter Funeral Home on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. where an Evening Prayer Vigil was held at 7 p.m.
