Jacqueline Browning

Jacqueline "Jackie" Browning, 74, of South St. Joseph Street, South Bend, Ind., passed away after an illness at 12:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 10, in Saint Joseph's Regional Medical Center, South Bend.

Mrs. Browning was born on Nov. 13, 1925, in Washington, D.C., as the daughter of the late Robert and Anna (Kerczinski) Raymond. She was also preceded in death by two grandchildren, Joseph Burden and Roger Snead; and by a great-granddaughter, Ashley Hamilton.

 

In Fort Myers, Va., in 1950, as the former Jacqueline Raymond, she married Robert J. Browning, who also preceded her in death on Aug. 3, 1971. She is survived by two daughters, Sharon (Richard) Burden of Mishawaka, Ind., and Patricia A. Snead of Elkhart, Ind.; eight grandchildren, Caitlin Burden, Jacob Burden, Sam Burden, Anna Burden, Sandra Greathouse, Marie Luna, Daniel Snead and Mary Trinidad; eight great-grandchildren, Donnie Greathouse Jr., Brittany Greathouse, Jessica Luna, Danielle Hamilton, Daniel Snead, Bobby Lee Snead, Roger Snead Jr. and Crystal Shafer; four sisters, Patricia Casto of Marietta, Ga., Marian (Paul) Bohrer and Judy Cobb, both of Colonial Beach, Va., and Lorraine (Jim) Huntington of Montross, Va. She is also survived by her special friend and companion, Bill Kowalski; and by a special friend, Leona DePriest. Mrs. Browning retired from Goodwill Industries, South Bend, where she was a mailroom supervisor.

 

Private family visitation has taken place. Mrs. Browning's body has been donated to medical science at Indiana University, Indianapolis, Ind., as per her request for the benefit of helping others. Contributions in memory of Mrs. Browning may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, 3408 Ardmore Trail, South Bend, IN 46628. The Hahn Funeral Home, 505 West 8th Street, Mishawaka, Ind., is handling arrangements.
