Ira D. Brown, 746 Sherman Ave., was dead on arrival at 5 p.m.  Sunday in Memorial Hospital. He was born in South Bend Feb.20,1878, and on Sept. 3, 1901, in South Bend he married Bessie E. Mikesell, who survives. Mr. Brown was assistant super-intendent at the former Singer Manufacturing Co. plant here until his retirement in 1950. He had been employed by the company for 50 years. Surviving besides his widow are a sister, Mrs. Frank Mangus of South Bend.
Friends may call after 7 p.m. today in the Welsheimer Funeral Home where services will be at 2p.m. Wednesday. Rev. Russell L. Jaberg, S.T.D., pastor of the Westminster Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Mr. Brown was  a member of the church and formerly was an elder. He was also an usher in the church and a member of the Maccabees.
