SOUTH BEND - Monroe Allan Brown, 13,
of Mayflower Road, died at 11:25 p.m. Monday in St. Joseph's
Medical Center after being hit by a car about 7:30 p.m. while
trying to cross U.S. 20. Monroe was an eighth-grader at Dickinson
Middle School. He was born Jan. 2, 1982, in Mishawaka. He is
survived by his mother and stepfather, Cindy Brown and Charles Arnold
of South Bend; his father, Roy Brown of Winnsboro, S.C.; maternal
grandparents, Patricia Miller of Kennesaw, Ga., and John
V. Miller of South Bend; paternal grandmother, Joyce Brown
of South Bend; and paternal step-grandmother, Audrey Arnold of
South Bend. He was a member of Heroes of the South Bend Community
School Corp.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in
Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive. Cremation will
follow. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral
