SOUTH BEND - Ray Alan Brown, 58, of South Bend, passed away at 12:45 a.m. Wednesday, January 17, 2007, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center. Ray was born on August 29, 1948, in North Liberty, to Earl and Mary (Sult) Brown. His father passed away.

Ray is survived by his mother, Mary of Walkerton; daughters, Amy (Craig) Tomlinson of Edmond, OK, and Angy (Geof) Shearer of South Bend; son, Earl Brown of Mishawaka; grandchildren, Jake Brown, Dustin Brown and Deja Rose Brown; a sister, Jayne (Roger) Curtis of Grand Rapids; and a brother, Dale (Julie) Brown of Crumstown, IN.

Ray was a social worker for the State of Indiana and a veteran of the U.S. Army, proudly serving a tour in Vietnam. He enjoyed reading, cooking, building models of military tanks and planes, following politics, gardening, and was an avid sports fan. His favorite team was the Indianapolis Colts.

Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, January 19, 2007, in St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road, South Bend. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. in the funeral home. Cremation will take place, with burial of ashes in Crumstown Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Reins of Life.
