Sept. 8, 1923 - Dec. 23, 2009SOUTH BEND - Ruth L. Brown, 86, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 8:45 p.m., Wednesday, December 23, 2009, in Hospice House. Ruth was born on September 8, 1923 in Vincennes, IN, to William J. and Charley (Jones) Stodghill. She had lived in South Bend since 1945, coming from Vincennes. On March 26, 1942, in Olney, IL, as Ruth L. Stodghill, she married Robert A. Brown, who preceded her in death on January 21, 1997. Also preceding her in death were six brothers. Survivors include her son, C. Robert (Nancy) Brown of Phoenix, AZ; one grandson, Timothy Michael (Lisa) Brown of Chandler, AZ; and two great-granddaughters, Taylor and Erin Brown of Chandler, AZ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 8, 2009 in St. Pius X Church. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 until 7 p.m., Thursday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive and from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Friday in St. Pius X Church.
