Charles Joseph Brugh Sr.

April 21, 1918 - March 27, 2002

Charles J. Brugh Sr., 83, residing on South 34th Street, South Bend, Ind., died at 6 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, in his residence. Charles retired from the Hull Lift Truck Company where he was employed as a welder. He was born on April 21, 1918, in West Lafayette, Ind., as the son of George Washington Brugh, and lived most of his life in the South Bend community. He was preceded in death by his father; a brother, Roy O. Brugh; and by a granddaughter, Heidi Ditsch.

 

On Nov. 22, 1978, in Osceola, Ind., he married Jean Brugh, who also preceded him in death on Oct. 20, 1980. Charles is survived by his daughter, Ruth Susan Ditsch of Niles, Mich.; his son, Charles J. Brugh Jr. of Mishawaka, Ind.; and by five grandchildren, Summer Ditsch of South Bend, Micki Haney of Three Rivers, Mich., Jessica Shirk of Mishawaka, Cory Brugh of Osceola and Amanda Brugh of Jones, Mich. Charles was a member of the Royal Order of Moose, Mishawaka.

 

Funeral services for Charles J. Brugh Sr. will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 30, in the Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend. Rev. Robert Baird, pastor of Prairie Gardens Christian Fellowship, New Carlisle, Ind., will officiate. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. The family will receive friends from 9 to 11 a.m. prior to the service on Saturday in the funeral home.
