Elizabeth Brzezniak, 97, of South Bend, passed away at 5:10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 21, in Holy Cross Care and Rehabilitation Center.

Elizabeth was born on November 16, 1908, in South Bend, to Andrew and Katherine Opaczewski. Her parents and her husband, Henry, on September 15, 1995, have preceded her in death. She was the last of eight children.

Elizabeth is survived by her daughter, Joanne Weber of Mishawaka; four grandchildren, Laura Oedekerk of South Bend, Mark (Amanda) Weber of Wyatt, Matthew (Karey) Weber and Don (DeeAnn) Weber of Mishawaka; 10 great-grandchildren, Joshua, Joanne, Christine, Brooke, Maddy, Paul, Matthew, Paige, Nicole and Kaley; and by one great-great-grandchild, Mark Henry.

Elizabeth worked at the Studebaker Corporation and was a member of St. Casimir Catholic Church, St. Anne's Rosary Society, American Legion Post 357 and the PNA Auxiliary. She also enjoyed sewing, as well as playing cards with her friends.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, March 24, 2006, at 1 p.m. in St. Casmir Catholic Church. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date. ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 1827 E. Ireland Road, South Bend, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
