30, 1923 - March 18, 2010MISHAWAKA - Phyllis Buchtel, 86, residing in Mishawaka, IN, passed away at 2:00 PM on Thursday, March 18, 2010, in her home. She retired after 40 years of sales with Avon Cosmetics and was District Coordinator for Avon. Phyllis was born on July 30, 1923, in South Bend, IN, to James and Marian Boles, and remained a lifelong area resident. On January 29, 1944, in South Bend, IN, she married Corbin D. "Dale" Buchtel, who survives. Along with her husband, Dale, she is survived by her daughter, Linda Buchtel of Mishawaka. One sister, Betty Carothers, preceded her in death. Phyllis was a gardener, and she and Dale loved walking together. She was the Sunday School Superintendent at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church for years where she was a member. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, March 22, 2010, in the Palmer Funeral Home - River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend. Rev. Steven Latzke, pastor of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Osceola Cemetery, Osceola, IN. Friends may visit with the family from noon until time of services on Monday in the funeral home.
