Jack A. Buck Sr.

Feb. 12, 1922 - May 30, 1997

SOUTH BEND - Jack A. Buck, 75, formerly of New Road, passed away Friday at 3:27 p.m. in the Holy Cross Care and Rehabilitation Center on Dougdale Road, of Alzheimer's. He was born Feb. 12, 1922, in Toledo, Ohio to Jesse and Beatrice (Wickey) Buck, both of whom preceded him in death.

 

On June 27, 1942, in Louisville, Ky., he married T. Louise Davis and she passed away Nov. 15, 1993. He is survived by a daughter, Nancy Detert of Las Vegas, Nev., a son, Jack Buck Jr. of South Bend; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Mardelle Brunnegraber of Niles, and Joyce Rackaway of Mt. Vernon, Ill.

 

He was a much decorated veteran of the United States Army and served during World War II. His decorations include a Bronze Star Medal, the Purple Heart, ETO Ribbon with a Bronze Star. He was the owner and operator of Jack's Office Machines and retired from there in 1992. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans Chapter 6 and a league officer of Chippewa Lanes mixed bowling league.

 

Friends may call Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Guisinger Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3718 S. Michigan St. Services will be Tuesday, June 3, at 10 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Larry Baker of the First Brethren Church officiating. Burial will be in Southlawn Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
