Earl W. Buckland

Earl W. Buckland, 65, residing on South Kentucky, South Bend, IN, passed away at 7:54 p.m. Monday, November 28, 2005, in Memorial Hospital. He was born on October 30, 1940, in Mishawaka, IN, to Earl Thayer and Hattie (Sprinkle) Buckland, and was a lifelong area resident.

 

While supervisor of the dining hall at Notre Dame he met his wife, Eldeen Arndt, and they married on March 7, 1970, in South Bend. Mrs. Buckland preceded him in death in 1995. Mr. Buckland is survived by three daughters, Johanna Frey of Granger, Kristi Buckland and Jennifer (Joe) Railing, both of South Bend; one son, Anthony (Shannon) Buckland of Plymouth; eight grandchildren; and one brother, Robert Buckland of Alabama. He was preceded in death by one sister, Ruth Gibson, and a brother, Melvin Buckland. Mr. Buckland retired in 2004 from Kreamo Bakery, South Bend, after 35 years of service. He enjoyed NASCAR racing and was an avid Notre Dame fan.

 

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 3, 2005, in Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend. Rev. Bill Walder, pastor of Crossroads Evangelical Free Church, Plymouth, will officiate. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery, South Bend, IN. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. today in the funeral home. Contributions in memory of Earl W.
