Mae Buckland

Mae Scott Buckland, of Brick Road, South Bend, formerly of Darden Road, South Bend, died at 4:55 a.m. Thursday, February 21, 2002, in Country Care Center West following an illness. Mrs. Buckland was born June 3, 1911 in Huntington, Ind., to Albert and Estela (Sheperd) Rowe and had lived in the South Bend area since 1926 coming from Moline, ILL. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, James M. Scott in 1970, her second husband, Earl Buckland in 1986; a daughter, June Kenninger; four sons, C.J. Scott, Gene Scott, Robert Scott and Clifford Scott; two sisters, Lelah Kuhn and Beatrice Rahn; and a brother, Virgil Rowe.

 

She is survived by one daughter, Betty (Clifford) Voreis of Granger, Ind.; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Walter (Gladys) Rowe of Gwyneed, Penn., and George Rowe of Gas City, Ind. Mrs. Buckland retired from Kroger's in 1973 after 15 years services. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church.

 

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday February 23rd in the Welsheimer Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Rd., with Rev. Neil Hampton officiating. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday February 25th in Estates of Serenity Cemetery, Marion, Ind. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. today in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County, 111 Sunnybrook Ct., South bend, IN 46637. Mae was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was loved much and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
