Sister Dorothy Bueter CSC

Sister Dorothy Bueter CSC, 71, formerly known as Sister M. John Bernard, of Saint Mary’s Convent, died at 1:55 a.m. today in St Joseph Medical Center. She was born Nov. 21, 1919 in Hannibal, Mo.. She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross at St. Mary’s on Sept 5, 1937, coming from Elkhart. She was received as a novice Aug. 15, 1938 and professed her vows Aug. 15, 1940. She was a school teacher assigned to Holy Cross School, St. Joseph Grade School, Christ the King School, St. Patrick’s School, all in South Bend, and the former St. Mary’s campus School on the campus of the University of Notre Dame. She also taught in Michigan City; Elkhart; Cairo, Ill.; Woodstock, Ill.; Harvard, Ill.; and Flint, Mich. She also worked in medical records at St. Joseph Medical Center in South Bend. Survivors include a sister, Sister Kathleen Bueter CSC, of South Bend.

 

Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Monday in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto at St. Mary’s with burial in the Our Lady of Peace Cemetery at St. Mary’s College. Friends may call in the convent parlor after 3 p.m. Sunday in the convent where a wake will be at 7 p.m.
