Rosemary Vandygriff Burger

SOUTH BEND - Rosemary Vandygriff Burger, residing in South Bend, passed away at 2:15 p.m. Tuesday, January 5, 2010, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend, following a brief illness. She was 77 years old. She was born October 2, 1932, in Jeanerette, Louisiana, a daughter of Dumas and Laura (Olivier) Broussard, and had lived in South Bend since 1948, moving here from New York. In August 1971, in South Bend, IN, she was united in marriage to Robert Burger, who preceded her in death on May 11, 1980. She was also preceded in death by a son, Andrew Vandygriff, in April 1988. Rosemary was owner and operator of Rosemary's Beauty Salon, where she always enjoyed many wonderful customers. She retired in 2007. She is survived by two sons, Earl J. (Nancy) Vandygriff of Granger, IN, and Neal Vandygriff of Ocala, FL; a daughter, Kimberly McFarland of Mishawaka; and five grandchildren, Jennifer Vandygriff, Michele Vandygriff, Tom McFarland, Casi McFarland and Sean Vandygriff. A great-grandson, Tony DeDonato, and three brothers, John Broussard of El Cerrito, CA, Russ Broussard of Fremont, CA, and Edwin Broussard of Walnut Creek, CA, all survive Rosemary as well. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 9, in Little Flower Catholic Church, 54191 North Ironwood, South Bend. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, IN. The family will receive friends from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday in the Palmer Funeral Home-Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend, and from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
