Hazel R. Burnett

Hazel R. Burnett (1914-2001) a long time resident of South Bend/Mishawaka, passed away on December 23 in Sacramento, CA. A memorial service was held at the Sacramento Unitarian Universalist Society on December 30.

 

She is survived by three children: Thomas R. Burnett of South Bend; Robert B. Burnett of Frankfort, Mich.; and Margaret M. Burnett of Sacramento, CA. Mrs. Burnett has three grandchildren and one great grandson in Frankfort, Mich. She and Richard T. Burnett were married for forty-five years and resided in South Bend/Mishawaka until Mr. Burnett's death in 1985.

 

Mrs. Burnett was well known throughout northern Indiana for her many contributions to her community via her television career as producer and star of Homemaker's Time and later as Executive Director of the Dairy Council of Northern Indiana. She participated in several service organizations including: American Association of Home Economists, Purdue Alumni Assoc., AAUW, Mental Health Assoc., and the First Unitarian Church of South Bend.

 

Mrs. Burnett resided in Sacramento during the past eight years near her daughter where she enjoyed reading, being a volunteer librarian, and collecting stamps. She will be missed and loved always for her humor, kindness and devotion to her family and community.
