Wanda Burnett

May 22, 1959 - Feb. 25, 2002

Born Wanda Nelson on May 22nd, 1959, in South Bend, Ind., she was the third of seven children born to Horace and Corine Nelson. Wanda departed this life on Monday, Feb. 25th, in Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.

 

A graduate of Washington High School, Wanda had been a lifelong resident of South Bend. She was united in wedlock to Odell Burnett on Nov. 16th, 1985. They were blessed with one son who survives. She was a housewife who devoted her time to her family and church. Wanda was preceded in death by both parents and grandparents.

 

Those who survive to cherish her memory are her husband, Odell, and son, Odell Burnett Jr. She is also survived by a sister, Vickie Nelson of Los Angles, Calif.; and five brothers, Terry Nelson of Paris, Calif., Gregory Nelson of Denver, Colo., Dale Nelson of Seattle, Wash., Eric and Kenny Nelson of South Bend. She is also survived by step-siblings, Nevada Hugins, Katherine Jacobs, Geraldine (William "Buddy") Riley, Russell Wilson Jr. and Donald (Mary Frances) Wilson, all of South Bend.

 

The funeral ceremony for Wanda will be conducted on Friday, March 1st, at 1 p.m. with the visitation one hour before in Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 206 S. Falcon Street, South Bend, Pastor Larry Davidson officiating. Arrangements entrusted to the Cobb Funeral Home.
