March 13, 1956 - March 9, 2006

Kevin Michael Burns, 49, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away peacefully in his home of natural causes on Thursday, March 9, 2006, surrounded by his family and friends.

He was born on March 13, 1956, to Charles and Patricia Ann (Crane) Burns. Kevin is survived by his wife, Kelly; his mother, Patricia Ann Burns; a stepdaughter, Amanda Carlson; and two stepsons, Michael (Lisa) Kruk and Ian Kruk, all of South Bend.

Kevin was known as "Papa" to his four beautiful granddaughters, Caitlin, Jordan, Jenna and Isabella. Also left to cherish childhood memories are his brothers and sister, Deborah (Butch) Breedlove of Granger, Charles (Barb) Burns, David Burns and Robert Burns; and several nieces and nephews of South Bend and Granger. Kevin was preceded in death by his father, Charles, and his grandson, Joshua.

Kevin graduated from LaSalle School in 1974 and attended DeVry School of Electronics in Phoenix, AZ. For many years he worked as a baker for Kreamo Bakery.

He was an avid NASCAR fan, a die-hard Cubs fan, and he loved music, especially his blues. Kevin's love of life lead him to frequently host Sunday gatherings poised as "Chef Keppo" and head entertainer. His friends will truly miss his exquisite cooking skills and his unique sense of humor.

The family will receive friends today, March 12, 2006, from 2 to 6 p.m. in The McGann Hay Funeral Home, 2313 E. Edison Road, South Bend, IN.  Celebration of life services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, March 13, 2006, in Holy Cross Catholic Church, with Rev. Michael Matthew, CSC, officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Notre Dame IN.

Memorial contributions may be made in honor of Kevin's courageous journey to Hospice of St. Joseph County, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
