Mary Rose Burns

Mary Rose Burns, 81, of the 100 Center High Rise, Mishawaka, passed away at 3:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 25 in Saint Joseph Community Hospital, Mishawaka. Mary was born on September 3, 1920 in South Bend to the late Walter and Julia Robak. Also preceding her in death were a sister, Alice Balough and a brother, Zigmund Robak.

 

On June 6, 1943, Mary married John Burns in St. Adalbert Church, South Bend. He preceded her in death on August 3, 1978.

 

Mary is survived by three daughters, Kathleen (Daniel A.) Boyer of South Bend; Sharon (Michael) Crennen of Denver, Colo., and Ann (Steve) Adams of Osceola; eight grandsons, Richard Boyer of Milwaukee, Jonathan (Tina) Boyer of Chicago, Patrick, David, Ryan and Timothy Crennen, all of Denver, and Craig and Dustin Adams of Osceola; and a sister, Genevieve (Albert) Boulanger of Mishawaka.

 

Mary and her husband John were co-owners of Burns Costume Shop in Mishawaka until 1980. During her working days she also worked at Studebaker's and the former Ball Band. Mary was a member of St. Monica Church and its Rosary Society, Harvest House and her hobbies included card playing and puzzles.

 

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, October 28 at the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, Mishawaka, where a Rosary will be recited at 3 p.m.

 

A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Monica Church on Monday, October 29 at 11 a.m. with Fr. Derrick Sneyd officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.
