Michael T. "Mick," "Mickey" Burns, 58, of Oak Street, Osceola, Ind., passed away at 10:40 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29, in Saint Joseph Community Hospital, Mishawaka, Ind. Michael was born on April 29, 1943, in Mishawaka, Ind., to Arthur T. and Helen L. (Sanicous) Burns, who have both preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by five uncles, Samuel Sanicous, Joe Burns, Wilford Burns, Charles Burns and John Burns. Michael graduated from John Adams High School in 1962, and worked as a brakeman for ConRail Railroad, retiring in 1981 after 15 years of service.

On Sept. 9, 1967, in Mishawaka, Michael married Linda L. Holycross, who survives. He is also survived by two daughters, Michele H. Burns of Osceola and her fiancé, Heath E. Shelton, and Cheryl L. Burns of Osceola; three brothers, Danny (Sandra) Burns of South Bend, Ind., Larry (Meredith) Burns of South Bend and David (Jeanne) Burns of Westfield, Ind. Other surviving family are Aunt Marie Stanton of Mishawaka; Aunt Jennie Coppens of Mishawaka; Aunt Geri Burns of South Bend; Aunt Joan Reagle of Macon, Ga.; Uncle Patrick Burns of South Bend; Uncle Donald Burns of Bradenton, Fla.; and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces, including Savonnah Trusty, who Uncle Mick called his "sweetie pie."

Michael was known and loved as a dear friend by many people. He enjoyed helping and caring for others. Michael was a member of A.B.A.T.E. (American Biker Aid Toward Education.)

Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main Street, Mishawaka. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3, in St. Monica Catholic Church, 222 W. Mishawaka Ave., Mishawaka. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
