Carl Butts

Carl Butts, 71, of Jewell Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, passed away following an illness at 1:20 p.m. Sunday, January 29th, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend. He was born January 2, 1935, in Mishawaka, to Earl and Alma (Taber) Butts, who preceded him in death.

 

Mr. Butts was a foreman for Dodge Manufacturing and also worked for Sprague Corporation in Michigan City before he retired in 1997. He was a St. Joseph County 4H Rabbit Leader and was a member of the Wednesday night bowling league at Jefferson Manor. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, and also delivered newspapers for the South Bend Tribune until his death.

 

Mr. Butts was married in Mishawaka to the former Carolyn Mueller, August 24th, 1958. She survives with four children, Tim ( Paula) Butts of South Bend, Janice Brugh of South Bend, Laurie (Jim) Sipocz of South Bend and Amy Butts of Chicago. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Charlotte (Harvey) Ludwig of Mishawaka; and three brothers, William Butts of West Bend, Wisconsin, Edward Butts of Yorba Linda, California, and Robert (Regina) Butts of Osceola.

 

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Peter Lutheran Church on Dragoon Trail, Mishawaka. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 North Main Street, Mishawaka.
