John Charles Buwa

John C. "Chuck" Buwa, 75, of Sixth Street, Mishawaka, Ind., died at 12:40 a.m. Friday, Oct. 19, in the Ironwood Health & Rehabilitation Center. He was born on Nov. 22, 1925, and had been a lifetime area resident. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, George A. and Theresa B. (Higgins) Buwa; a sister, Dorothy Marie Buwa; and by a brother, James E. Buwa.

 

Chuck retired in 1993 as a floral delivery driver from Roy Huff in Chicago, Ill. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, honorably discharged in 1946. Chuck was a member of VFW Post #360, American Legion Post #161 where he was past Commander (1974-1975), and was a member of Moose Lodge #1262.

 

Chuck married the former Theresa M. Brown on Oct. 28, 1950, in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Huntington, Ind. He is survived by his wife of 50 years; two sons, Michael Alan (Judy) Buwa of Valdosta, Ga., and Timothy E. Buwa and his fiancée, Leah Mae Cox, both of Mishawaka; three grandchildren, Jason M., Theresa D. and John A. Buwa; and by two brothers, Robert (Mary) Buwa of Mishawaka and Ronald (Dee) Buwa of South Bend.

 

Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. today, Oct. 21, in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main Street, Mishawaka. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, with Fr. Eldon Miller officiating.

Military rites will be conducted following the service by VFW Post #360 & American Legion Post #161. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer Association or to the American Cancer Society.
