Albert V. Buysse

Albert V. Buysse, 79, of Fir Road, Granger, Ind., passed away at 11:45 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 9, in Saint Joseph's Regional Medical Center, South Bend, Ind.

 

Mr. Buysse was born on Dec. 2, 1919, in Bowling Green, Ohio, as the son of the late August and Dena (Coddens) Buysse.

 

On July 21, 1942, in South Bend, he married the former Mary Janowiak, who also preceded him in death in April 1954.

 

On Aug. 31, 1963, in Niles, Mich., he married the former Mildred Engeseth.

 

Mr. Buysse is survived by his wife of 36 years, Mildred; a daughter, Donna Gustwillar of Defiance, Ohio; three sons, Ed Buysse of Westminster, Colo., Randy Buysse and Barry Buysse, both of Granger; five stepdaughters, Maxine Hammer Tree of Elkhart, Ind., Darlene Haines of South Bend, Donna Greathouse of Petaluma, Calif., Patricia Yarbough of South Bend and Mary Fry of Granger; a stepson, Emmeth Engeseth of Grand Rapids, Mich.; 32 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; a brother, George Buysse of Niles; and by a sister, Julianna Billow of Bristol, Ind.

 

Mr. Buysse was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Granger.

 

He was a United States Army veteran of World War II from 1941 to 1945, and was decorated with a Purple Heart as well as good conduct commendations. He was a member of V.F.W. Post #360, and was a member and past officer of the B-K Club in Mishawaka. He was also a past member of the South Bend Moose Club, as well as a member of the Volkstring Club in South Bend. Mr. Buysse was also a lifetime member of D.A.V. Post #6, South Bend. He was the owner of Buysse's Farm and Produce Sales on Fir Road, Granger, and was also employed by Patrick Metals for 14 years, retiring in 1985.

 

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 12, in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka.

 

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday in the funeral home, with Rev. William Neidhart, C.S.C., officiating.
