Josephine P. Byers

Mishawaka - Services for Josephine P. Fermi Byers, 60, of San Francisco, formerly of 1013 S. Main Street, who died Monday in Stanford (Calif.) Hospital, Calif. After an illness, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

Mrs. Byers was a bookkeeper and had worked at Uniroyal Inc. and Bendix Corp. She was born Aug. 31, 1927 in South Bend, and had spent most of her life in the Mishawaka area. Survivors include two sons, Larry Fermi of Eatontown, Pa., and Steve Fermi of San Carlos, Calif.; a grandchild; three sisters, Virginia Mroz of Niles, Marian VanTornhout of South Bend and Jane Jackson of Mount Morris, Mish; and her mother, Mary Ruyling of Mishawaka. Mrs. Byers was active in the Cub Scouts for several years.

 

Editor: She was previously married in 1947 to Rudolph Valentino Fermi. Her maiden name was Josephine P. VanDevervelt.
