SOUTH BEND - Dorothy Byrne, 93, of Plainfield, IL formerly
of South Bend, passed away in Lakewood Nursing and Rehab Center,
Plainfield, IL. She was born on November 10, 1914, in Hulburt, IN
as the daughter of Edward and Ada Shearer. She was
preceded in death by her parents, one sister and two brothers.
She married Laurence Byrne who preceded her
in death in 1994. Surviving are four children, Sheila (Gene) Mollahan
of Virginia Beach, VA, Terry (Christine) Byrne of Bremen, IN,
Rita Krauss of Plainfield, IL and Kevin (Louise) Byrne of
Dale City, VA; 12 grandchildren; and a sister, Vera Thayer
of Valparaiso, IN. Dorothy was a Registered Nurse and worked at
Memorial Hospital for 20 years before she retired. She enjoyed
spending time with her family and friends. She especially
treasured the time spent with her grandchildren.
Private family Entombment will be held in Riverview Cemetery Mausoleum, South Bend, Thursday, January 10. Hahn Funeral Home 505 W. 8th St., Mishawaka is handling arrangements. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
