     Funeral services for Howard Eugene Caldwell, formerly of South Bend, who was fatally burned in an explosion in Rock Hill, S. C., when he attempted to save the lives of two workmen, were held this afternoon at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Caldwell, 118 West Marion street, at 3 o'clock, Rev. J. M. Francis, of St. James' Episcopal church, officiating.  Burial was in Riverview cemetery.
