Sister M. Roberta CSC, 90, of Saint Mary’s Convent, died at 9:40 a.m. Monday in her residence. She was born Feb. 17, 1900 in Chicago as Millicent Magdalene Callahan. She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross on Oct. 4, 1921, coming from Nevada, Iowa. She was received as a novice on Aug. 15, 1922 and professed her vows on Aug. 15, 1924. She was assigned to teaching in secondary schools, serving in the Indiana schools at Fort Wayne, Michigan City, Hammond and Anderson; Illinois schools in Chicago, Danville, and Woodstock; and also in Idaho and Utah. She was a social worker in California returning to Our Lady of Holy Cross Convent in 1971. She moved to St. Mary’s Convent in 1978.

 

Services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto at St. Mary’s with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery at St. Mary’s. Friends may call after 3 p.m. today in the convent parlors, where a wake will be held at 7 p.m.
