Services for Sister M. Clarice CSC, 81, formerly a nurse at St. Joseph Hospital, South Bend, who died at 5 p.m. Thursday, were held today in St. Mary’s Church, Anderson, Ind. The body was to be taken to St. Mary’s College campus, for burial today at 2 p.m. in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery on the campus. She died in St. John’s Hickory Memorial Hospital in Anderson, where she had served from 1956 to 1966.

 

She was born Clare Agnes Cannon on Jan. 1, 1889 in Greencastle, Ind. and graduated from St. John’s Hospital School for Nurses in Anderson in 1917. She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross in 19919; received the holy habit the same year; and was professed in 1921. After 10 years at the Holy Cross Hospital in Salt Lake City, she came in 1929 to St. Joseph Hospital, South Bend, where she served in the pharmacy and medical records department. From 1937 to 1956, she was director of the infirmary at St. Mary’s College and Academy and stewardess at the college.
