MISHAWAKA - Margie M. Carpenter, 75, of 632 N. Mason St., died at 8:30 p.m. Saturday in Rochester Healthcare Center. Mrs. Carpenter retired in 1974 from St. Joseph Hospital as a nurse's assistant. She was born March 15, 1919, in Ridgley, Tenn., and lived in Mishawaka since 1946. In 1974, in Mishawaka, as Margie M. Leke, she married Ernest Carpenter. He died in 1990. She is survived by a daughter, Nadine Bowen of Irving, Texas; two sons, Tony Bowen of Rochester and Ed Bowen of South Bend; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Eugene Leke of Humbolt, Tenn., and Wesley Leke of Trenton, Tenn. She was a member of Ireland Church of God, South Bend.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main St. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home.
