Louis Carrico

Louis "Jerry" Carrico, 65, of Rawstorne Lane, Mishawaka, Ind., died at 12:12 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend died suddenly.

 

Louis was born March 25, 1939, in South Bend, to Francis and Sarah "Anna" (Osborn) Carrico. They preceded him in death, as did a brother, James in 1961.

 

On July 28, 1959, he married Janet Catalino in St. Pius X Catholic Church in Granger, Ind. She survives along with one daughter, Toni Carrico of Mishawaka; two sons, Douglas (Janine) Carrico of Mishawaka and Darrin (Erika) Carrico of San Diego, Calif.; four grandchildren, Brock Scutchfield, Skyler Carrico, Lucas Carrico and Taylor Carrico; three great-grandchildren, Trey Dumph, Tira Scutchfield and Mia Scutchfield; four sisters, Mary Lou Botkon of Holiday, Fla., Rebecca Wayman and Rita Ann Merril, both of Granger, Ind., and Linda Sue Delahanty of West Branch, Mich.; and a brother, Paul Carrico of Chicago, Ill. Louis was a devoted husband and father and his grandchildren were the love of his life.

 

Louis retired in January 2003 from Selmer where he worked as a manufacturing engineer. He also worked for Gemeinhardt in Elkhart for several years. He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and the Michigan Work-Out Club. He was also a former facilitator for Pathway's and was the founder of the Second Chance Group, a division of the South Bend chapter of Alcoholic's Anonymous that met at Holy Cross.

 

Louis was also a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, having served in the Philippines and Okinawa.

 

Friends and family may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th St., Mishawaka, and one hour prior to funeral services at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Pius X Catholic Church in Granger. The Rev. William Schooler will officiate and burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Mishawaka.

 

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or to the charity of one's choice.
