Sister Mary Providence CSC, 92, the sister with the greatest number of years service with the Holy Cross order, died at 1:25 p.m. Monday in Saint Mary’s Convent. Born as Mary J. Carroll, in Crawfordsville, Ind., she received the holy habit March 19, 1880, and was professed into the order Aug. 15, 1882. She had been a teacher and superior in schools of the community for several years and served for many years as assistant to the mother superior at St. Mary’s. She is survived by five nephews and three nieces.

 

Friends may call in the convent parlor at St. Mary’s until services in the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception at St. Mary’s at 6 a.m. Wednesday. Internment will be in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery at St. Mary’s.
