Pearl Chamberlain

SOUTH BEND — Pearl Basham Chamberlain, 97, of 3602 S. Ironwood Road, South Bend, Ind., passed away after an extended illness at 12:01 a.m. Monday, Dec. 16, in St. Paul's Retirement Community. Mrs. Chamberlain was born on Feb. 17, 1905, in Cass County, Ind., and was a lifetime resident of the Michiana area.

 

On Nov. 19, 1927, in Logansport, Ind., as Pearl Minglin, she married Charles R. Basham, who died on Dec. 28, 1963. On June 6, 1970, she married Lloyd Chamberlain, who died on Dec. 22, 1971.

Pearl is survived by a daughter, Carolyn (Curt) Neiswender of South Bend; a son, Paul R. (Alice) Basham of South Bend; a sister, Mabel E. Mack of Logansport, Ind.; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Basham of South Bend; and by 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren whom she loved and cherished. Mrs. Chamberlain retired in 1967 from Associates Investment Company after many years of service.

 

Visitation hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, in the Hanley & Sons "Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home, located at West Ireland Road/Indiana 23, South Bend. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, in the Hillside Missionary Church. Friends will also be received one hour prior to services in the church. Pastor Ken Fetter will officiate, with burial to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Ind. The family request that all memorial contributions be made to the building fund at Hillside Missionary Church or to the Greene Township Lions Club. The HANLEY & Sons "Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home handled arrangements and services and extend deepest sympathy and heartfelt prayers to the Chamberlain family.
