Dorothy Chamblee

June 11, 1926 - May 29, 1995

GRANGER - Services for Dorothy Chamblee, 68, of Ridgemoor Way, who died at 6:10 p.m. Monday in St. Joseph's Medical Center, will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Little Flower Catholic Church. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may call from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the church, where a wake will be at 7:30 p.m. Welsheimer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Child Society of South Bend.

 

Mrs. Chamblee was former president of the National Christ Child Society and active in local community organizations. She was co-winner of the 1994 Hospice Helping Hands Award along with her surviving husband, Dr. Roland Wesley Chamblee, medical diector of the St. Joseph's Chapin Street Health Center. She was born June 11, 1926, in Flint, Mich., and lived in South Bend since 1953.

 

Other survivors include four daughters, Michaele Chamblee Christian, Daryl Chamblee-Hackney and Ruth Chamblee, all of Washington, D.C., and Marquita Jones of Lansing; two sons, St. Joseph Superior Court Judge Roland W. Chamblee Jr. of South Bend and Alan of Grand Rapids; 12 grandchildren; and a sister, Janet Gordon of Indianapolis. She was a graduate of Meharry Medical College School of Nursing, Nashville, Tenn., and was a former member of the U.S. Cadet Nurses Corps. She was a member of Little Flower Catholic Church, where she was a eucharistic minister for over 20 years.
