NORTH LIBERTY - Peggy May Charles, 84, of North Liberty, passed away Saturday, December 19, 2009, in Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. Peggy was born September 3, 1925, in Braintree, England. On March 22, 1945, as Peggy May Judd, she married her beloved husband, Joseph H. Charles, who survives. They have resided in the North Liberty, IN, area since 1946. She is survived by a daughter, Rev. Jennifer Charles of Shirley, IN; and a son, Rev. Rex S. Charles of Flora, IN. Also surviving are two sisters, Joyce Aldridge of London, England, and Janet Harden of Ipswich, England; and three brothers, William J. Judd of Toronto, Canada, John W, Judd of Byng Inlet, Canada, and Michael J. Judd of London, England. Peggy has eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, whom she loved and cherished. Peggy was preceded in death by a daughter, Ann S. Gardner of Naperville, IL, and her parents, William J. and Ethel (Butcher) Judd. Peggy retired from Wells Aluminum in North Liberty. She was a wonderful cook, loved to plant flowers, and enjoyed knitting. She will be missed dearly by her loving family and many friends. Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 9th, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. in the Southlawn United Methodist Church, where she and her husband were members for many years. Memorial contributions may be made to the Southlawn United Methodist Church, 60756 U.S. 31 South, South Bend, IN 46614. The HANLEY and Sons "Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home, located at West Ireland Road/Indiana 23, handled arrangements and extends its deepest sympathy and heartfelt prayers to the Charles family.
