Josephine E. Chiszar (Feb. 8, 1916 -- March
17, 2005)
Josephine E. Chiszar, 89, of Fairington
Circle, formerly of Magnolia Street, passed away at 5:55 p.m. Thursday,
March 17, 2005, in the Holy Cross Care & Rehab Center.
Mrs. Chiszar was employed by South Bend Toy,
Studebaker, Wilson Brothers and H.D. Lee. Josephine was a member
of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and the D.F.V.
German Club Ladies Auxiliary. She was born on February 8, 1916,
in South Bend, to Frank and Mary (Singer) Freitag.
On September 12, 1936, in South Bend, as Josephine Freitag, she
married John J. Chiszar, who preceded her in death. Josephine was
also preceded by a son, John J. Chiszar Jr.; two sisters, Mary
"Mitzi" Reiner and Anna Nagy; and four
brothers, Frank Freitag, Carl Freitag, Joseph Freitag and Herman
Freitag.
Surviving are a daughter, Sharon (Daniel) Harman
of Mishawaka; two grandchildren, Randy (Mary Jo) Harman and
Tammy Harman; a great-grandchild, Matthew Harman; two sisters,
Hermina "Minnie" (Julius) Takacs and Rose
(Joseph) Nagy, both of South Bend.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be
celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 21, 2005, in St. Mary of
the Assumption Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery.
Family and friends may call from 2-6 Sunday in the Zahoran
Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Avenue, where a Rosary will be
recited at 4:00 p.m.
