Dorothy Chrapek

Dorothy Chrapek, 81, of Greenview Avenue, South Bend, Ind., died on Sunday, Jan. 21, in her residence. She was born on March 16, 1919, in South Bend, to the late John Herman and Elizabeth (Wendowski) Herman.

 

On July 4, 1945, in South Bend, she married Carl Chrapek, who preceded her in death on Jan. 8, 2001. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Clem Herman, Bert Herman and Sylvester Herman; and by four sisters. Eleanor, Wanda, Bernice and Louise.

 

She was a lifelong area resident. Mrs. Chrapek retired in 1998 from the University of Notre Dame after 50 years of service. Mrs. Chrapek was a member of M.R. Falcons and Polish National Alliance Lodge #83.

 

She is survived by a son, Chris (Carolyn) Chrapek of South Bend; four grandchildren, Jennifer Minor of South Bend, Jason Chrapek of Mishawaka, Ind., Andrea Bradford and Melissa Krol, both of South Bend; and by a sister, Theresa Wisnewski.

 

Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today, Jan. 23, in the ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road. Services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 24, in the funeral home, with burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
